Information about the prototype

The V43 series of the Hungarian State Railways is a series of electric locomotives. The traction motors of this locomotive are powered by a silicon rectifier system, which is where its nickname "Szili" comes from.

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Planung und Durchführung für 50 Hz Bahnelektrifizierung acquired the license for the V43 series in 1960.

The universal locomotives of MÁV are stationed in Budapest-Ferencváros, Szolnok, Miskolc, Nyíregyháza, Békéscsaba, Szeged, Győr, Szombathely, Dombóvár and Székesfehérvár and cover all types of trains.

Information about the model

The model of the silicon rectifier locomotive V 43 supplements the PIKO assortment of electric locomotives of Eastern Europe. As a PIKO Expert model, the DC locomotive has a lot to offer ambitious model railroaders. The roof section of the locomotive is filigree and highly detailed. The extremely vivid engravings, together with the free-standing attachment parts, give the locomotive body the highest prototypical fidelity.

The striking bogies have been excellently implemented and round off the overall impression. Inside, the locomotive has robust drive technology paired with state-of-the-art electronics. When used on the layout, especially the numerous lighting functions provide a playful added value. The analog version can be converted in no time at all thanks to the PluX22 digital interface. The typical sounds of the prototype engine are reproduced excellently in the versions with digital sound.
