In this product presentation, we will introduce you to BRAWA Set #B1913 of the track classic with pictures and a video from. YouTuber Alex.Anlage -
Information about the prototype
With the conversion programs for 3yg and 4yg wagons, the Deutsche Bundesbahn was able to counteract the war-related shortage of wagons for the first time from the mid-1950s. However, the new construction programs were initially limited to the development of city express trains and express train passenger cars. Only after this did the Bundesbahn have the capacities for the development of new local transport cars (n-cars). The steadily growing demand for traffic and the fact that the 3yg were only designed for a short period of use led to the first prototypes of the new n-wagons in 1958. Based on the findings of the previous new developments and the prototypes, the three basic types were created with 5 compartments, 1st class in the middle of the car and two large spaces, 2nd class (AB4nb), three large spaces, 2nd class (B4nb) and two large spaces, 2nd class and a luggage compartment Driver's cab (BD4nf).
While trials with side panels made of aluminum, normal steel and also corrugated side walls were made for the prototypes, it was ultimately decided to use stainless steel (V2A) panels for series production. Since the paintwork of the carriages as corrosion protection on this material could be omitted, the n-carriages were sanded below the windows with a so-called peacock eye pattern. This grinding pattern, in conjunction with the silver surface of the V2A, quickly earned the n-car the distinctive nickname “Silberlinge”.
